If you deem this worthy of an answer you may answer it if not you may burn it up

Dear Friends

I am seated this morning in my little room and am going to write you a few lines maybe you do not want me to but if you do not you need not answer my letter in a good while but if you do want to keep up a correspondence answer this as soon as you receive it. Girls left home last Tuesday morning for Fort Plain as I supposed and I will not tell you all of my route for there is too much to tell. We arrived in Syracuse a little before noon and there we had to change cars. We got along with that very well and our next stopping place to stay any time was a little place named St. Johnsville which was about as large as Dublin and we had to wait about two hours and a half or three and then we were within about six miles of Fort Plain. Well we arrived in Fort Plain in time to look around a little before dark we found the seminary to contain the great number of 40 students when the building was capable of containing nearly 300 I should think at any rate it is much larger than this building and this contains over 200 and I do not know but 300 we have not been much homesick since we have been here that is only at times when we had not much of anything to do between daylight and dark and Sunday we have to go to church twice every Sabbath or else have an excuse from the Preceptress and she will not excuse you unless it is very necessary for your sickness or something of that kind of course. And now girls if you go away to school you had better not go to Fort Plain if you want my advice and if you do not you need not take it. We have a splendid school I can that of Falley Seminary. Our room is furnished with bed, bedstead and clothes, with the exceptions of sheets and pillow cases, a wardrobe, stove, table, three chairs, wash stand, wash bowl, and pitcher. But girls I cannot write much more for I want this to go out by this mail which goes at 12 and it is 11 now. If you deem this worthy of an answer you may answer it if not you may burn it up but do not let anybody else see it. If you do write tell me all of the news everything.

Rachel send her love to you and says she would like to have you write to her. Yours in haste,
Mary Beadle1
