                                                                                Dear Cousin Carrie[1],
It is Sabbath afternoon and my time unoccupied, I though I would answer your kind letter which I received a few days since.  Were glad to hear that you arrived home safe and are enjoying yourself as well as you say you are among the society of old friends.  And I presume that today you are having lots of fun.  I wish I could be with you a few hours this afternoon.  I think I would enjoy it very much.
Where do you suppose Noah will be this evening.  I am quite sure that he will not make the girls a call.
I think you must have enjoyed your visit to Mr. Vincent’s by what you wrote.  I can see just how Anne looked and acted and I do not think I should have done as she did if I had been in her place, but you know that everyone has a way of their own.
Mother and I have just been looking at the land that Father has been buying.  It looks splendid on that barren side hill.
Our milk is going to be carried to the factory this summer.  We shall not have as much to do as usual and I am glad of it.
I saw Jennie last Wednesday.  She is well.  She said that she had received a letter from Rand[2].  Jen commences her school next Monday and I am in hopes I shall see her every day.  Tell Rand that I have not received any letter from Miss Port and I am afraid I never shall.
  C. Frink’s[3] party cost him that night.
Uncle George Case[4] was buried the first day of this month.  Aunt Sarah Shepard[5] the 12th.  Joseph Gifford’s wife[6] is buried tomorrow.
I received a letter from John last week.  He inquired where your address was.  He said he was going to write to you, so I expect you will have a letter from the little crazy boy before a great while.  Cousin Artimus[7] was here last Sunday they are all well and all the relatives or were the last I heard from them.
Father has bought 53 cows this Spring- has not been home much.
I shall have to stop writing for I have to write to Johnnie this afternoon, milk 6 cows and go to church this evening and it is now half past 3 o’clock.  How straight do I write.  (the last paragraph is written on the slant)
Give my love to all and keep a share for yourself.
Father and Mother wish to be remembered to all.  There we have got company and I guess my cake will be dough for this afternoon.
Please write soon and receive this from your
